Infant

Infant Class

Age: Newborn to 12 months

Our infant class can accommodate up to 10 infants with 3 teachers. Upon arrival parents will fill out a daily check in note to provide the teacher with as much information as possible to meet the daily needs of each infant. This will include the last time the child ate, diaper change occurred, last nap and any other information that may be helpful for the teacher to know. Each infant will participate in a variety of activities throughout the day to help meet age appropriate milestones and keep the child engaged and happy. A few examples of these activities include tummy time, baby sign language, art projects, group story time, music and movement, baby yoga and outdoor time with weather permitting. As your infant approaches the age of 12 months the teacher will help prepare them for the transition into our toddler room!

Toddler Class

Age: 12 months to 2.5 years old

In our toddler room each morning as parents drop off children will be greeted by a teacher and lead to their hooks to hang up their coats and backpacks for the day. After drop off children will enjoy manipulative play in small groups before heading outside (weather permitting) for some fresh air and gross motor time. Our toddlers are required to wear hard soled shoes for time on the playground but are welcome to remove their shoes when inside the classroom.

Montessori work time and circle will follow recess and be guided by both teachers. During this morning time diaper changing will occur and potty-training is introduced to children who show signs of being ready. Teachers will communicate to parents on a daily basis. Lunch and nap time are shortly after morning work time and recess, at this time children will practice sitting in chairs at toddler size tables, hand-washing and will rest on a cot to prepare them for afternoon activities! Afternoons include art, yoga, music, recess, story time and a short Montessori work time to wrap up our day!

Preschool

Age: 2.5 years old to 5 years old

As our students arrive each morning they may choose from small group manipulatives or start their morning with a little quiet reading time. Each child has a hook to hang their jackets, backpacks and any other belongings they bring in for the day. Younger students are welcomed to ask our older students for help with hanging their belongings while this encourages social relationships to be built among the age group. Students will enjoy morning recess where organized group play, dramatic play and gross motor will be offered. In the summer our Friday mornings will include water play on the built in splash pad to cool off during the summer heat.

Montessori work time, circle and snack will be offered after recess and children can choose from a variety of activities in the areas of science, sensorial, language, practical life, math, geography, reading and lessons taught by the teachers in peace curriculum, personal care, cooking and more.

Lunch and rest time will be midday and prepare the students for an eventful afternoon. Daily specials will occur in the afternoons and will vary each day. Yoga, Physical Educations, Music, Art, Cooking and guest speakers/readers will be part of the specials. The day will end with quiet reading or individual table work as children are picked up for the day.

Grade School

Grade School (Kindergarten - 1st Grade)

Age: 5 years +

Our Elementary School Program provides an educational environment for children ages 5 - 8 years old. Our school day is from 8:30am-3:30pm with morning (7:00am-8:30am) and afternoon (3:30pm-5:30pm) care available to those who need it and who are enrolled in the Elementary School Program. Children in will spend their days working both individually and collaboratively on a variety of projects that are designed to foster social, emotional, and intellectual development. Between the ages of five and seven, children are discovering the joys that come with the mastery of reading and writing, and are able to explore all topics of the Montessori classroom including math, language, history and geography (cultural and physical), sciences (life and physical), art, music, and practical life. The design of the classroom integrates rigorous academic study with practical work to create an atmosphere of purpose and peace with an emphasis on community.

Lunch and rest time will occur midday and prepare the students for an eventful afternoon. Daily specials will occur in the afternoons and will vary each day.
